Traffic controlled crosswalks
The devices are installed at pedestrian crosswalks and provide audible and spoken announcements of the traffic light state.
The volume of these announcements and alerts is adjusted depending on the time of day and may be switched off. When the signals are turned off, the Smart Guide receives a message from the Equipment over a radio channel informing it that the signals have been temporarily switched off. It relays this message through the built-in speaker or earphones. Users can use their Smart Guides to turn the audible announcements and the audio signals back on for a short period of time.
Similarly, Users are notified by their Smart Guides when traffic lights are temporarily turned off. These traffic light devices are available as separate units or as add-on modules to be mounted onto pedestrian countdown displays.
The equipment installed on traffic lights can play aloud messages like “you may cross the Mir street”, or “please finish crossing”.
Those messages are also dubbed by chirping sound in order to make crossing more easy.
The volume of these messages change according to the time of the day, it can be muted at the night time.
In this case a special message is relayed to the SmartGuide informing that the traffic light is muted with an option to temporarily turn the traffic light speaker back on in order for the user to cross the street.
These devices can be either stand-alone or can be mounted into traffic lights themselves or countdown displays.
